WONDERWARDS With a family like this who needs enemies?
Recently got this message from my eldest brother, Jay, after my inquiring where my Dad's remains were after months of silence on their whereabouts.
He basically sent my Dad's remains to be left in the trunk of an old red Mercedes in some New Jersey parking garage, without asking me, shipping the car across the nation vs. simply mailing them to me directly.
Had to ask around where the ashes were and upon my final receipt (hand delivered by my 20 something Niece), Jay copped the attached attitude - in writing no less; arrogance undeterred.
My other eldest Brother, Gordon, stayed muted, despite his Ph.d in 'leadership'. Maybe G was fearful, since Jay is a driven Harvard trained lawyer, my Dad's chosen Trust Executor and they held a very, very close relationship. G also borrowed undisclosed $$$ from the trust. Geeeee.
Yet, I've dealt with this bullshit since birth, confirmed by my Mom stating she 'had to protect me from my Father her whole life' while she lay on her deathbed, visibly hating him till the end.
No surprises then that somehow in the following estate trust proceedings, Jay mysteriously got 65%, Gordon 25% and me, 10%. Maybe it was Dad's tithing; his lifestyle of selfish narcissism my Brothers literally ate right up, while I consciously avoided the filth. That % notice a few months back allowed me an immediate, no guilt departure from all 3 of them - yet, one would have thought Pa's ashes would be treated differently.
Nope!
And Lo! What a surprise when Dad's $2+ million dollar home went underwater, despite Jay's posthumous 'caretaking'; with Jay's recent executor financial calculations leaving a mere pittances' of nothing for grandkids...
Strange too, since Dad lived such a glee-filled lavish life out there in Palm Springs, frequently dining out with them in Palm's fancier restaurants. A Decade of Dinnerware over Decency with many a joyful photo taken too! Smiling away generational savings with Zero Shame; Zero Guilt; Zero Accountability. Yet this is BroCode, where truth is told for our wisdom.
